The SFJAZZ Center opened its doors in late-January of this year just over 2 miles from our doorstep, laying claim as the Nation’s first free-standing structure built specifically for jazz.

The new $64 million venue boasts an intimate concert hall, the Robert N. Miner Auditorium, specifically designed and built to acoustically and visually enhance the connection between artists and audiences.  SFJAZZ Center architects Mark Cavagnero Associates received the Honor Award for Architecture in the AIA San Francisco 2013 Design Awards. Aside from the adjustable 350-700 seat auditorium and the 80-seat ensemble room, SF Jazz Center also includes South , a new café led by The Slanted Door's Charles Phan - influenced by the flavors of New Orleans, serving local wines and cocktails from the old south.  UrbanDaddy calls South, “A Great Pre-SFJAZZ Date Spot.”

KQED's "This Week in Northern California" had a terrific segment on the Center, hosted by Thuy Vu.

The New York Times, says “...this long-awaited enterprise is off to a bang-up start” and Author, Robert Mailer Anderson says “San Francisco has got its soul back.” Read More: SF Jazz Center opens with a joyful noise

Plan a visit, review their events calendar, contribute to the facility and even name a seat in the Center - a beautiful way to celebrate your passion for the music.

The SFJAZZ Center is one three venues for the 31st Annual San Francisco Jazz Festival.  For thirty years, the San Francisco Jazz Festival was held in numerous venues around the Bay Area and over multiple weeks. With the opening of the SFJAZZ Center, the festival will be condensed into a two-week series of concerts and events in the SFJAZZ Center’s Robert N. Miner Auditorium and Joe Henderson Lab, at Davies Symphony Hall and the Church of the Advent of Christ the King, with all venues literally within a 2 block radius.

“We’re bringing the energy and feeling of a real festival, concentrated and fun,” says SFJAZZ Founder and Executive Artistic Director Randall Kline.

The Mercury News' Richard Scheinin spoke to vocalist Cécile McLorin Salvant (Cecile McLorin Salvant Music), calling her "jazz's next big thing." Cécile performs in Miner Auditorium one week from opening night!
