Head over to The Girl and The Fig and try the Fig & Arugula salad paired with the Steak Frites. For a perfect brunch, the Quiche Lorraine can’t be beat. Or sample some of the amazing food, just off the plaza, at Café La Haye, a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Nearby Della Santina’s Trattoria serves up some of the best Italian food in the region. And while in Sonoma, be sure to make an effort to experience the Portuguese culinary effort at LaSalette Restaurant … simply mouthwatering.
Rich History. Explore Sonoma’s historic past with a stroll through the Mission San Francisco Solano, the northernmost and last of the California Missions, founded in 1823. The Plaza offers a number of historic sites which will give you a sense of California’s rich and diverse history. Or travel Northwest of the Plaza and you can find Jack London Park, a picturesque 39 acres including a museum, London's gravesite and the ruins of Wolf House; the park now includes most of London's holdings and is a National Historic Landmark. Did you know? The Sonoma Plaza was the site of the Bear Flag Revolt where a small group of American settlers in California rebelled against the Mexican government and proclaimed California an independent republic in 1846.
For the Love of Kids. Located just one mile south of the Plaza in Sonoma, Train Town features a quarter scale railroad on 4 miles of track. Each train trip lasts 20-minutes and goes through tunnels, over bridges and makes a stop in Lakeview, a miniature town and petting zoo.
